Port of Long Beach Drayage — Terminal-by-Terminal Guide
Full-service drayage across every POLB terminal. Pier-to-door, pier-to-pier, chassis-provided. One dispatch line, asset-based fleet, and a La Mirada yard 20 minutes from the port.
Drayage, done properly. Out of POLB.
The Port of Long Beach moves roughly 9 million TEU a year across five major container terminals. Every one of those terminals runs its own appointment system, its own gate rules, and its own rhythm — and you can't fake your way through that. You have to know it.
Precision has been dispatching into POLB for 35 years. Our dispatchers work the Voyage, eModal, and Forecast appointment systems daily. Our drivers know the gates, the chassis pools, and the dual-transaction windows. Our La Mirada yard is 20 minutes up the I-710, so we can turn containers quickly and keep your supply chain moving.
Whatever your POLB drayage need — full-service pier-to-door, pier-to-pier shuttles, chassis-provided moves, or specialty hazmat/overweight work — one call and it's handled.

Common questions.
Precision Worldwide Logistics serves every major container terminal at the Port of Long Beach: Pier T (TTI / Total Terminals International), Pier E/F (LBCT / Long Beach Container Terminal / Middle Harbor), Pier G (ITS / International Transportation Service), Pier J (PCT / Pacific Container Terminal), and Pier A (SSA Marine). Our drivers dispatch to all of these terminals daily and are experienced with each facility’s gate procedures, appointment systems, and operational protocols. We are an asset-based carrier — we own our trucks and employ our drivers — so you always know a credentialed Precision driver is handling your container at the terminal.
Each terminal at the Port of Long Beach operates its own appointment system for managing truck arrivals. TTI uses the Voyager Track System (VTS). LBCT operates its own proprietary appointment portal integrated with its automated yard equipment. ITS, PCT, and SSA Marine use appointment-based scheduling platforms. All systems require advance booking for container pickups and deliveries. Appointment slot availability varies by vessel discharge schedules, yard density, and time of day. Precision’s dispatch team works within all of these systems daily and books appointments as soon as container availability is confirmed to secure the best available slots.
Congestion levels shift based on vessel schedules, seasonal volume, and terminal-specific conditions, so no single terminal is permanently the most congested. However, Pier G (ITS) has historically been one of the more congestion-prone terminals, particularly during peak import season from late summer through early winter when vessel volumes are highest. Pier T (TTI) can also experience significant gate congestion during peak discharge periods. LBCT’s automated operations tend to produce more consistent throughput. Precision monitors gate conditions at all terminals and adjusts dispatch timing to minimize wait times for our drivers — and delays for our customers.
Precision can execute same-day pickups at any Port of Long Beach terminal, subject to appointment availability. Our fleet is staged at our La Mirada yard — approximately 20 minutes from the port — and we can dispatch a TWIC-cleared driver quickly once an appointment is confirmed. The limiting factor on same-day moves is almost always terminal appointment availability, not truck availability. During peak periods, some terminals may not have same-day appointment slots. Precision’s dispatch team works to secure slots through cancellation openings and schedule flexibility. For the most reliable protection against last-minute pickups, ask about our pre-pull program.
A dual transaction is when a drayage truck completes two moves in a single terminal visit — typically dropping off an export container and picking up an import container in the same trip. Most Port of Long Beach terminals support dual transactions. Precision’s dispatch team proactively identifies dual transaction opportunities when we have matching export deliveries and import pickups at the same terminal. Duals reduce per-move costs and improve efficiency, though they depend on timing alignment and are not possible on every move.
Yes. LBCT at Pier E/F is a highly automated terminal that uses automated stacking cranes (ASCs) and automated guided vehicles (AGVs). The gate process, chassis interaction, and yard workflow differ from conventional terminals like ITS, PCT, or SSA Marine. LBCT’s automation generally produces more predictable gate processing times and faster container staging, but drivers must follow specific operational protocols within the automated zones. All Precision drivers dispatched to LBCT are experienced with the automated terminal workflow and trained on the specific requirements.
Your container’s terminal location is determined by the vessel it was loaded onto and the steamship line’s berth assignment at Port of Long Beach. Your bill of lading, freight forwarder, or customs broker can tell you which terminal your container is at. You can also check the Port of Long Beach’s vessel schedule or the terminal operator’s container tracking system using your container number or bill of lading number. If you are not sure, call Precision at (714) 690-9344 with your container number and we will locate it for you.
Yes. Each terminal at the Port of Long Beach sets its own gate hours, which can change from week to week based on vessel schedules and volume. Most terminals offer first and second shift gates on weekdays, but Saturday and weekend gate hours are not consistent — some terminals offer them periodically while others do not. Evening and extended-hour operations also vary. Precision’s dispatch team checks gate hour postings for all terminals daily and plans pickup schedules accordingly. For after-hours or weekend pickup needs, contact us and we will confirm which terminals are operating and schedule the move.
